2025-26 School Year Programs

Younger Preschool Program:

2.5 Years Old - 3 Years Old

Our younger preschool is a multi-age classroom for children ages 2.5 - 3 years, 1 months. (Your child must be born BEFORE March 1, 2023. We are accepting a few students born in March, April, and May of 2023 who are willing to hold their spot in the class until they turn 2.5 years old so they don’t miss out on an entire year of preschool.). At the Neighborhood Play School, we believe that a two-year-old benefits from a first introduction to preschool.

Children will grow as they navigate a diverse and rich classroom landscape. Age-appropriate and skill-promoting play invitations will be set up throughout the classroom. These include process art, dramatic play, manipulatives, sensory experiences, science, block area, and reading corner. These invitations are designed to expand children’s play but also build a strong foundation for future achievement.

The schedule includes ample opportunities for “choice time” for students to explore these prepared play areas and more structured time consisting of circle time with stories, songs, and movement opportunities. Students will share snack and lunch alongside their peers and teachers, building table manners and conversational skills. Students will have abundant outside time to develop gross motor skills. Shared experience times will allow students to work with more specific intentions and directions in small groups. The teachers support each child individually, providing additional enrichment to meet academic, social, and emotional interests and needs.

The preschool class structure encourages exploration, skills-building, and collaboration. Teachers thoughtfully notice children’s work and facilitate their growth through intentionally designed play invitations and prompts. This type of environment creates lifelong learners who are passionate, creative, and self-motivated, but also students who feel comfortable, productive, and successful in a school environment.

Older Preschool Program:

3 and 4 Years Old

Our preschool is a multi-age classroom for kids ages 3 and 4 (Your child must be born BEFORE July 31, 2022 to attend this class, which is a minimum of 3 years and 1 month old and attempting potty-training). At the Neighborhood Play School, we know that preschoolers can thrive in a multi-age environment where they have opportunities to learn new skills while strengthening their execution of other skills. As the younger preschoolers receive encouragement to try new skills, the older children take ownership of tasks mastered. The teachers support each child individually, providing additional enrichment to meet academic, social, and emotional interests and needs.

Caregiver - Child Program

Caregiver-Child is an adult caregiver/child class for students ages 1.5– 2.5 (Birthday of March 1, 2024 cutoff for 1-year-olds). This program aims for children and their caregivers to spend time learning together in an interactive, intentionally designed environment. (One caregiver must remain on site and actively participate in the experience.) The classroom environment will encourage your toddler’s social and emotional growth alongside a trusted caregiver and a knowledgeable early childhood professional.

The class time will include play invitations, sensory experiences, process art opportunities, manipulatives designed for skill building, and time for outside play. Children and caregivers will have time for social interactions and observations of teacher modeling, including language, academic, social, and emotional development skills. This class experience is an excellent opportunity for child and parent growth, building a solid foundation, a love of learning, and community building.
